On December 23, 2004, MAARS was heard on the radio in the SE Metro area. Animal Ark, a no-kill animal shelter in Hastings, airs a weekly show called Animal Wise Radio on Hastings station, KDWA - 1460 AM. Mike Fry, Executive Director of Animal Ark, invited MAARS to represent the world of birds and discuss captive avian welfare. MAARS Executive Director, Eileen McCarthy, and Placement Director, Alayne Rueber, were interviewed at length about MAARS, the placement process, and the critical role that volunteers play in the organization, and were asked to shed some light on the care and commitment that captive parrots and other birds require. Starting the last weekend in February, Animal Wise will be expanding its format and broadcast area — the show will be carried by KDWA - 1460 AM, as well as AM 950 Air America Minnesota. Look for MAARS to be the featured guest on Animal Wise again soon! This is just one of the ways that MAARS is reaching out to educate the public while working alongside other organizations dedicated to bettering the lives of animals! Listen to the Show Beginning the weekend of February 27, the show will be broadcast live on AM 950 on Sundays from 1:00–2:00 p.m. Listeners can also catch the show streamed live from the AM 950 website at www.950airamerica.com. Each week, the show will be rebroadcast on KDWA - 1460 AM on Thursday mornings from 11:00 a.m.–Noon.
