2 Tbsp. ground anise

12–15 cups filtered water

5 c. fresh or frozen organic mixed veggies (carrots, corn, squash, yams, broccoli, green beans, kale, etc.)

1 c. fortified organic fruit and veggie juice or 4 Tbsp. spirulina powder

1/4 c. organic cider vinegar

Contents of 1 capsule garlic and Lactobacillus acidophilus supplement

1/4 c. bee pollen

1/2 c. organic raisins or other dried fruit, soaked in warm water 20 minutes. (Optional)

1/2 c. raw organic sesame seeds or other nuts (Optional)

Any other favorite foods (Optional)

Directions

Bring water & oil to a boil in a large stockpot. Add cinnamon, anise, and grains. Allow to boil again, then lower heat, stir, cover, and simmer 1 hour or until all water is absorbed.

Put beans in large bowl and add 2 cups water. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and microwave 15–30 minutes until tender on 1/2 power. Do not overcook!

Cut or food process veggies into bite-size pieces.

In large pot, bowl, or tub mix grains, beans, and veggies. Add vinegar, juice, or spirulina, garlic supplement, and optional ingredients. Mix well.

Scoop enough mixture for 2 days into plastic bags, flatten, seal, and freeze

Defrost in refrigerator overnight and warm in microwave 10–20 seconds. Stir with a finger to make sure there are no hot spots and serve!

Makes enough for 30 delicious, nutritious meals for 6 small parrots.
