AM & PM Shift Duties

  Shift Manager must read shift logs back to their last shift.

  Visual inspection of all birds must be done.

  Check medical board for additions/changes. The Shift Manager is responsible for handling medications and making sure they are administered properly.

  All water dishes must be washed in hot, soapy water, rinsed, sprayed with Avitec and air dried DAILY.

  Fresh water and fruits/vegetables or cooked food (rice, beans, pasta, Birdie Bread, etc.) must be given to all birds. Check the refrigerator for the weekly menu.

  Complete tasks assigned to shift (cages, walls, bathrooms, etc.)

  Laundry should be done in hot water and ½ cup of bleach.

  Give baths to birds.

  Out of cage time for birds.

  All bird droppings must be cleaned from carpet with OxyFresh and Avitec at the end of each shift.

  All play stands must be washed and disinfected with Avitec at the end of each shift

  Quarantine Area - Shift Managers ONLY: Wash/disinfect water dishes, fresh water and veggies, mop and disinfect floor with Avitec, seal/remove garbage.

  Garbage must be sealed and/or taken out.

PM Shift Duties

  Shift Manager must read shift logs back to their last shift.

  Visual inspection of all birds must be done.

  Check medical board for additions/changes. Shift Manager is responsible for administration of all meds.

  Wash and disinfect all fruit/veggie dishes, dry food cups as needed.

  Feed fresh dry food to all birds.

  Change all cage papers.

  Clean perches and cages.

  Change out toys if you have time.

  Make sure everything is picked up and put away at end of shift.

  All areas must be vacuumed (including kitchen and food storage room.)

  Hang plastic in the Lorikeet area if needed.

  Refill food carts and clean up any spilled food.

  All bird droppings must be cleaned from carpet at end of shift.

  Quarantine Area - Shift Managers ONLY: fresh water and dry food, remove cups from each cage separately and wash and disinfect with Avitec. Change all papers. Seal/remove garbage.

  Garbage must be taken out.

  Do a final cage check - make sure all birds have food/water and that cage doors are latched.

  Do a final visual check - make sure everything is put in its place.

  Make sure all doors are properly shut and locked.

  Log hours in the Volunteer Hours Log Book.

Weekends & Holidays

  AM & PM shift duties are combined into one shift.

  Do not feed fresh fruits/veggies or cooked foods.
