Salsa

Salsa is a playful, talkative, and affectionate Blue-streaked Lory puchased from a breeder who did not live up to the expectations of his human flock. After a year-and-a-half in his home, MAARS received an e-mail stating that Salsa had to be out within the week. His guardians were putting their house on the market and feared that his noise and mess would lower the value and desirability of their property. They told MAARS that they were considering getting a "different kind" of bird.

Salsa is very responsive to people who are comfortable with Lories and is curious, confident, and loves to hop around on the floor playing with toys and chasing human toes. Like all Lories and Lorikeets, he thoroughly appreciates bath time! He will bathe in a dish or spread his wings to be misted while splashing water everywhere. He also likes to sit on human heads and preen hair — or hang from it while tickling an ear with his long brush tongue. He often says "Kiss!" and makes a loud smooching sound with his beak close to the nose of his playmate and then whistles, chirps, squeals, and chatters delightfully expressing his thrill at being the center of attention.
